PRESIDENT’S CORNER

Howdy Aggies,

First let me take a moment to thank all who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have in the greatest nation on earth. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13.

Excellence, integrity, leadership, loyalty, respect and selfless service. These are our Texas A&M core values, and they are also values that echo across the rolling hills of Arlington National Cemetery. Our university, military service and sacrifice are eternally linked and we respectfully remember those who have died in service to our great nation.

As school comes to an end and summer approaches, many of us begin to think of a little time off and family vacations. As we have a chance to take a breath and catch up on things we may have forgotten earlier in the year. Perhaps one of those things is your WCAMC Membership dues? Our club dues go to support club activities for our members as well as scholarships for local students. If you have not yest paid your annual dues it can easily be done online: wcamc.aggienetwork.com/store

Congratulations to the Aggie Baseball team who clinched the SEC Tournament title and along with that their highest seed ever in the tournament. The Aggies are #4 nationally and will begin regional play in College Station this weekend. If things go according to plan they will then host the Super Regional en route to a trip to Omaha.

We have kicked into full gear planning our annual FISH FRY Scholarship Fundraiser. Please consider getting involved and assisting with our largest fundraiser as we work to continue supplying scholarships to local high school students headed to A&M, (details below) this event is open to everyone looking to assist in some way. We cannot make it a success without your involvement.

Gig’Em,

David A. Johnson ’87

SCHOLARSHIP FISH FRY FUNDRAISER

This is the 24th Anniversary Scholarship Fish Fry Dinner & Silent Auction hosted by the Williamson County A&M Foundation. Our Foundation only has one goal, to provide financial assistance to our local youth who are attending our beloved Texas A&M University. In 2015 you helped us raise over $32,000 for local scholarships and over 1,000 meals were purchased. With your continued support 2016 can be even better. So, get your family, friends and neighbors to come join us at this year’s event.

VOLUNTEERS

Here is how you can get involved. First let me give a big shout out to this year’s volunteer coordinator Linda Hale. Volunteers can contact her ahead of time @ lindahale81@verizon.net to sign up for shifts, or see her the day of the event. You can also click here: Fish Fry Volunteer SignUp to sign up for a specific area

DESSERTS & DRINKS

Part of the fun of the evening is enjoying the homemade desserts.  That being said, someone has to make them for us to enjoy… and for ~1100 people. Please volunteer to make a homemade dessert that serves 20. You can even make more than one dessert if you are so inclined. We need your contribution!

Deliver your dessert to the Georgetown Community Center, 445 Morrow Street, Georgetown, on Friday, June 10th, from 9AM – 5PM. You can stay and slice it yourself for 20 people, or leave it with the volunteers and we will slice it for you.

So when you do Aggie math, we need ~55 desserts. We would love your help!!

We also need 2 shifts of people to work the “drink stations” (tea, lemonade & water).
Shift 1 from 4:30-5:45 p.m.
Shift 2 from 5:45 – 7:00 p.m.

Cathy needs help on Friday beginning at 9AM to slice & set up the desserts. I cannot be there this year. Last year it took 3 of us all day to have them ready by Fish Fry time.

Call Janet DuBose at 210-218-9743 or Cathy Corbell at 214-674-7755
OR
Email Janet DuBose at jdubose50@gmail.com or Cathy Corbell at dccorbell@gmail.com

Please RSVP to let us know what you plan to bring and how many it will serve and/or which drink shift you would like to work!

WEEKLY EVENTS

We work hard to offer a variety of events in hopes that your schedule will allow you to join as often as possible. We realize everyone is busy but it is always good to take a little time for friends and expand your network. We will continue our ‘THURSDAY’ event schedule, but keep your eyes open for a few twist as we move through the year.

This week we will have our Reveille Breakfast @ Rudy’s – Round Rock. Be sure to make a little extra time at lunch and meet some new folk’s or say HOWDY to familiar faces. Good opportunity for a little Aggie speak and networking.

The following week we will have our Family Night @ Double Dave’s @ both Round Rock and Cedar Park. Remember, if you have a favorite watering hole or restaurant, particularly one that is Aggie owned, be sure to pass it along so that we can ‘ALL’ give it a try and put it in our rotation.
