PRESIDENT’S CORNER

Howdy Aggies,

We have reached August and while the heat persist the good news is Aggie football is only 32 days away. With that, soccer and volleyball will be getting started as well. On campus, things have begun to pick up as Fish Camp is underway. Our local scholarship recipients along with 8,000 of their new ‘closest friends’ will begin moving into campus in the coming weeks and the Corps FOW check is will be 17 August. As you can imagine, things are gearing up in Aggieland.

To follow suit we are also getting things kicked off for our club to get ready for fall. In addition to our normal monthly gatherings returning to their regular schedule we are also beginning to plan for the SEC tailgate picnic. No better way to dust off your tailgate gear and invade Austin with all of the other SEC schools as we prepare for football season. Like last year there will be Aggie BBQ plates available for $10 Adults & $6 Kids (12 & under).  There will be VERY limited plates for sale at the picnic, so order your online https://tx.ag/SEC2016

As a club, we continue to work toward providing networking opportunities as well social activities that fit varying interest. We are open to suggestions, as well volunteers, to provide new and fun activities. It’s also time to begin the search for our Hullabaloo Huddle watch parties. If you know of an establishment that may be interested in hosting our club for game day watch parties please let us know. GigEm@wcamc.com

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If you have been looking for a way to get more involved with the club we may have the perfect opportunity for you. We are in the process of planning a location for our Hullabaloo Huddle Watch Parties. If you are interested in trail visits to a few local establishments this may be the perfect fit for you. In addition we are working on a members business directory. No matter if you are new to the area or have been around for a while, when you need assistance around the house or professionally, it is always good to reach out to fellow Aggies who may be able to assist with your immediate needs. The Aggie directory would be a great place to find the right connection. Also, a good way to advertise your business or services.

AUSTIN SEC TAILGATE PICNIC

The date is set and plans are under way for another great Family Picnic. This Austin SEC Club event is one you do not want to miss. This is a great way to get all of your tailgate gear ready for another football season. No better way than to display our school maroon and the SEC banner in the middle of ‘burnt orange’ country. There will be details in the near future but be sure to save the date, Saturday 20 August. We will once again coordinate with the CapCity A&M club and great Aggie Bill Benker ’90, to provide a BBQ plate to those planning to attend. The link is below and you may pre-purchase your BBQ plate up until 18 August online: https://tx.ag/SEC2016. There will be ‘LIMITED’ plates available on the day of the event as Bill prepares meat based on the number of pre-sold tickets. In order to add to the ‘tailgate’ atmosphere we will have ‘corn-hole’ tournament, be sure to bring along your favorite tailgate dessert to share as well. https://www.facebook.com/events/259170634476296/

WEEKLY EVENTS

We work hard to offer a variety of events in hopes that your schedule will allow you to join as often as possible. We realize everyone is busy but it is always good to take a little time for friends and expand your network. We will continue our ‘THURSDAY’ event schedule, but keep your eyes open for a few twist as we move through the year.

This week we will have our Reveille Breakfast @ Rudy’s Round Rock. Be sure to take a little extra time, leave early for work and meet some new folks or say HOWDY to familiar faces. Good opportunity for a little Aggie speak and networking. https://www.facebook.com/events/1629062907357915/
