Howdy Ags,
I want to thank everyone who came out for our annual membership meeting in January.  Thank you to Denise & Shuler Page ’75 and their staff at Gumbo’s North for providing the location.  We may have to look for a new spot next year as the group continues to grow.  Enjoyed seeing familiar faces as well as the crew of new attendees.  We had several first timers who joined us for the meeting, best of all they are looking forward to getting involved in other club activities.
I would like to thank the board for their continuing service, working to put together activities that allow us all to gather in an arena that best suits our personal needs, while supporting the fundraising of the Williams County A&M Foundation and its efforts to raise money for scholarships.
A special welcome (and a big thank you) to our newest board members, Michael Howell and Courtney Alcott, who will be serving two year terms as our at large representative board members.  If you are still interested in getting involved in some capacity with the club there are plenty of opportunities in the horizon,  Fish Fry committee will be kicking off soon as well as our Muster committee.  If you are interested in getting involved in any way please email us at GigEm@wcamc.com or call/text us at 512-887-2247.

WCAMC Endowed Scholarship

I would like to thank the members of our club who voted to work toward an ‘ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP’ to recognize our 25th Anniversary of providing scholarships to local students looking to attend A&M.  This will be the first endowed scholarship from our club and we look forward to funding it throughout the year.  We will work with the A&M Foundation to establish this scholarship and all donations will be tax deductible.
Thanks to the generosity of a few WCAMC members we had a few pledges to contribute $2,500.00 the night of the annual meeting, which means we are already 10% towards the necessary $25,000.00 needed for the endowment.  This will allow us to have a scholarship in perpetuity recognizing all the efforts over many decades for those that started and continue to work toward raising funds for future Aggies.
Please look for continued details on how you can contribute to this fund as we finalize the information with the A&M Foundation.

FISH FRY Meeting Scheduled

Our 25th annual Fish Fry is on the horizon.  We cannot make this event work without the amazing effort of our club members and volunteers.  The first meeting to begin working on the event has been set for March 13th @ 6:30PM.  The meeting will be held at the Georgetown Health Foundation Community Rooms (tx.ag/GHFCRooms).  Please mark the date/time on your calendar so that you can be sure and join us.  We will have additional details in the near future.

2017 Scholarship Applications available

If you are aware of a Williamson County high school student that has been accepted for enrollment in the Fall of 2017, scholarship applications can now be found on our club website (wcamc.aggienetwork.com/scholarships).  The deadline for scholarship applications is 1 April ’17, at which time our scholarship committee will spend extensive time reviewing each application and selecting this years receipiants.  We will recognize and award the scholarships on April 21st at our local Aggie Muster Ceremony.

Weekly Events

We will continue 2017 with our weekly events where hopefully you can find something that fits both your time frame, as well as your interest.  Please also keep in mind that we are here to serve the members of our club, with that said we are always open to suggestions and ideas of other activities that will serve our members.  Just keep in mind, it may also allow you the opportunity to step up and volunteer to lead a new activity.
The first Thursday of the month will be our Reveille Breakfast at Rudy’s in Round Rock, where you can stop by on your way to work for a little social time and a great breakfast taco.  On the second Thursday we will continue our Family Night at Double Dave’s.  Make plans to join us at either the Cedar Park or Round Rock location for great pizza rolls and a night where you do not have to cook.  On the third Thursday we will have our Networking Lunch.  Whether you are in the market for a new job or looking for exceptional candidates as new employees, this is a great opportunity to connect with other Aggies.  Finally, now that football season is over (a positive in many ways) we do not have any watch parties so we will resume our Howdy Hour on the fourth Thursday of the month beginning in February.

We look forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming all the new ones to all of our club activities.  Remember to join our club page on Facebook (fb.com/wcamc) so you can stay up to date with all that is going on around the county.
Look forward to seeing everyone at one of our upcoming events.
Gig’Em,
David A. Johnson ’87
