PRESIDENT’S CORNER

Howdy Aggies,

The “dog day’s of summer” continue to drag on as we are now hitting 100 degrees outside on a regular basis. On a bright note, the SEC media days have kicked of in Alabama and everyone is beginning to talk football which means fall and cooler weather are right around the corner. Right?!?

As we live in central Texas the ‘cooler’ weather of fall is certainly ‘relative’ and short lived in these parts but kick-off to another season of Aggie football is only 53 days away. To get in the football spirit there is still time to join the Capital City A&M Coach’s Night scheduled for this Thursday.

With summer brings a break in routines and as a club we have had our fare share, particularly this month. With Coach’s Night on Thursday we will NOT have our regularly scheduled Family Night at Double Dave’s. Look for that to return in August as we settle back into our routine and prepare for school to resume. In addition we will NOT have Howdy Hour this month as we want everyone, including the kids, to come out and join us at the Dell Diamond for Aggie Night on Friday. Fireworks will follow after the game and it is always good to mingle with old friends as well as the group from Austin.

We are also beginning to plan for the SEC tailgate picnic. No better way to dust off your tailgate gear and invade Austin with all of the other SEC schools as we prepare for football season. Keep an eye out as we are again attempting to provide a great BBQ option for those attending the picnic.

As a club, we continue to work toward providing networking opportunities as well social activities that fit varying interest. We are open to suggestions, as well volunteers, to provide new and fun activities. It also time to begin the search for our Hullabaloo Huddle watch parties. If you know of an establishment that may be interested in hosting our club for game day watch parties please let us know.

CAPCITY A&M CLUB COACHES NIGHT – Thursday 14 July

Don’t miss Coach Sumlin’s annual pilgrimage to Austin to give us the latest on the upcoming Aggie football season at a new and exciting venue! Coach’s Night is also our biggest fundraising event of the year as we work to provide scholarships to outstanding Central Texas high school students attending Texas A&M University.

This year’s events include a VIP reception with Coach Sumlin, live and silent auction, the opportunity to meet Reveille and our Yell Leaders, and a great Texas barbecue dinner!

Auction items include a signed and framed John David Crow jersey (see below), guided fishing excursion, Argentinian dove hunt, items signed by Coach Sumlin, exciting raffle opportunities, dining and hotel packages, and so much more!

AUSTIN SEC TAILGATE PICNIC

The date is set and plans are under way for another great Family Picnic. This Austin SEC Club event is one you do not want to miss. This is a great way to get all of your tailgate gear ready for another football season. No better way than to display our school maroon and the SEC banner in the middle of ‘burnt orange’ country. There will be details in the near future but be sure to save the date, Saturday 20 August.  facebook.com/events/969867739779119/

WEEKLY EVENTS

We work hard to offer a variety of events in hopes that your schedule will allow you to join as often as possible. We realize everyone is busy but it is always good to take a little time for friends and expand your network. We will continue our ‘THURSDAY’ event schedule, but keep your eyes open for a few twist as we move through the year.

Next week we will have our Networking Lunch at Tortuga Flats, Round Rock. Be sure to take a little extra time for lunch and meet some new folks or say HOWDY to familiar faces. Good opportunity for a little Aggie speak and networking at one of our favorite spots to meet for lunch
