Howdy Ags,

It was a tough week for both Aggie teams on the hardwood. The men will drop out of the top 10 and the ladies will probably miss out the chance to host part of the NCAA tournament.  But, Von Miller winning Super Bowl MVP was a nice “win” for the Aggies last night.  Baseball and softball are about to get started and the track teams are gearing up as well. Still plenty of athletics back on campus to keep us entertained through the spring. It appears we have some interest for some watch parties as the basketball tournament gets underway so keep your eye on your email for updates and check the website calendar.

A note from our VP of Communications:

Some of you may have seen that an online map was published on our website and linked to via social media that showed how Maroon WilCo was getting.

There was some concern from The Association of Former Students about us using the alumni data that they provided us in such a manner.  The map originally included street level information but NOT individual address numbers.  Per their request that map has been deleted and replaced with a simpler map that only uses city/zip code data for the alumni in Williamson County.  You may view the new map toward the bottom of our home page.

Howdy Ags,

We have kicked off a new year and half way through January already. Certainly hope you were able to hit the ground running as there appears to be no shortage of things to occupy ones time.

Over in Aggieland things continue to move in a positive direction on the hardwood. Both the men’s and women’s programs are playing good basketball right now. If at all possible be sure to catch the teams as it is exciting to see in person. As of today the men’s team has broken into the Top 10. Discussions of not only making the ‘BIG DANCE’ but how deep they go has made it to national sports radio. The men host LSU on Tuesday night, if you happen to be College Station, be sure to catch the game. The women lost a tough game over the weekend by one point to #2 ranked South Carolina. Fortunately we will have a rematch a Reed, we all need to get out and support that effort

Of course the early baseball polls have the Aggies ranked as high as #4. Of course we know all to well, your pitching into the season will determine your success. Blue Bell park opens up in a month (19 Feb) when the Aggies will take the diamond and kick off their run to Omaha. Across the street at the softball complex the ladies will start things up on 12 Feb.

Of course Parents Weekend is slated for April 8-9 and there is rumor that the ‘Spring Game’ will once again return to Kyle Field now that the renovations are complete. Between football, baseball against Georgia and all the regular scheduled events it would be a good reason to make a spring trip over to Aggieland.

This weeks club event is our Aggie Networking Lunch.  We will be meeting from 11:45-1:00 at the 620 Cafe at 910 Round Rock Ave, Round Rock.

As we start the new year we will also be making some changes to our WCAMC board and officer positions. We certainly hope you will make it a point to come out and join us at Gumbo’s North (map) on Thursday 28 Jan (there will be a special limited diner menu so feel free to order prior to the meeting).  In conjunction with our monthly ‘Howdy Hour’ (5:30) we will have our annual membership meeting (6:30). At this time the slate of board members and officers will be presented and voted upon. We will also have a recap of 2015 and plans for 2016. Remember, the club exist to meet the needs of our members and we want to appeal to as many Aggies as possible, but we can’t do that without your help and participation. This is a great opportunity to come meet new friends, provide input to the direction of the club and lay the foundation for a fantastic year.

While contemplating how you might like to get involved we have a few positions that have not been filled for this year. Consider the possibility of stepping in and getting involved to your comfort level. Or take a leap of faith and get out of your comfort zone and get involved to meet new friends.

We have three (3) at large board positions open at this time. Our club has 5 at large positions on the board and they serve three year terms. This is a good way to be involved in the planning of and direction of the club prior to becoming an officer. The three current positions available are: two – three year terms and one – two year term.

In addition, if you want to get involved with a committee we have several options in that arena.  As April approaches our current Muster Chair, Abby Williford will begin meeting with her committee to finalize those plans and begin looking for next years Muster Chair.

Our annual ‘Fish Fry’ fundraiser will be here before you know it and we will have many areas of opportunities in which to serve there as well.

In regards to monthly activities we are seeking a committee chair for our ‘Networking Lunches’, ‘Howdy Hours’ as well as an ‘SEC representative’.

If any of these areas interest you please reach out to myself or any of the board members prior to the annual meeting.  (list of Club leadership wcamc.aggienetwork.com/leadership)

We look forward to seeing many new faces as well as all our familiar ones in the coming months. Pleas join us at the end of the month as we would like to hear from our members on how to best serve you in the coming year.  If you can’t make the meeting, please feel free to call/text or email us your feedback or recommendations.

Merry Christmas | Singing Cadets | Annual Meeting

22 Dec

Weekly Newsletter

Howdy Ags,

2015 is drawing to an end and all of us on the board would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. As we enter 2016 we will continue to work towards providing our members with opportunities to socialize with Aggies and in enlarge their network. The club is always open to suggestions as to how we can meet our members needs and welcome suggestions as well as volunteers.

We will have our annual meeting in January and would like to have good attendance as we move forward with new officers. We may continue a few watch parties for basketball, particularly as the March Madness approaches. Of course we will have Aggie Muster April 21, 2016 and our annual Fish Fry June 10, 2016. In addition to providing scholarships for local students we would also like to provide an avenue for the Aggie community to stay strong and vibrant in Williamson County.

As my two year term as club president draws to a close I want to thank everyone for their support and efforts to keep the club moving in a positive direction. As the county has exploded in size it has presented some challenges which we have worked toward overcoming to the best of our ability. I hope I was able to keep some of the momentum from our past presidents and strengthen the foundation for those to come. Working to keep the Aggie Spirit burning bright just outside the confines of the ‘burnt orange curtain’ to the south.

HULLABALOO HUDDLE
If you are not planning on traveling to Nashville for New Years and the bowl game then make plans to join fellow Aggies for our watch party at George’s. Come out and support the Aggies as well as the Georgetown local, Jake Hubanek as the Aggies take on Louisville in the Music City Bowl. The patio, as well as the bar, will be full of Ags and heighten the atmosphere as opposed to sitting at home. The Chef is working on something special out of the kitchen and it will be perfect for watching the Aggies BTHO Louisville!

Hats off to the volleyball and soccer team for their success this year.  The volleyball team won 15 straight to close out the season and host the first round of the NCAA championship.  The program is certainly on the up swing.  The soccer team made it to the Elite for the second year in the row, despite having a large number of underclassman, and their future looks bright as well.
Here is whats happening around the area to close out the year:
YOUR SHOPPING CAN SUPPORT THE WCAMC

WCAMC BOARD OPENINGS

As the end of the year approaches we begin the process of transitioning our club officers and a few of our board members.  If you are interested in getting more involved and serving in some capacity please reach out and let us know.  We will have a board meeting in January in order to purpose a slate of nominees for the entire club to vote on at our annual meeting early in 2016.  It is everyone’s club and we would certainly appreciate input from all members.

SAVE THE DATE, 9 DECEMBER – AUSTIN SEC CLUB EVENT

We have reserved NXNW on Stonelake in north Austin for the Holiday Party on December 9th, beginning at 6PM.  We are happy to announce that we will once again be benefiting Toys for Tots/US Marines at this event.  As an update, we have been informed by the US Marines that their request for assistance already exceeds that of last year.  Your help could make a huge difference for a family this year. We have a few items for the raffle, however, we need your help in making the raffle a success!  For every toy you bring you will receive one raffle ticket for some great prizes.  If you or your company would like to be recognized please consider a small gift basket or gift certificate for the event.  https://www.facebook.com/events/816739778436983/

Thanks everyone and looking forward to this fun and charitable event!
